ABOUT US
Pranjabharathi, initiated by a group of academics and researchers is inspired from the vantage point of nationalistic ethos. It is highly debatable whether nationalism is democratic, sectarian or inclusive. One could also frown upon the idea of an academic journal limiting itself to the seemingly narrow prism of nationalism, especially in the larger context of globalisation, postmodernism and liberal democracy. There have been much controversies and debates surrounded around the use and abuse of the term anti-national. Both nationalism and anti-nationalism have by now been turned as hate-words by the so-called ‘liberal intelligentsia’ of the country. The diversity of the nation and the existence of sub-nationalisms in the country have been used to great effect by a section of the academia, for decades, to keep the nation’s fault lines live. Anarchy and chaos are often the consequences of the mindless dissent perpetrated by those people who claim to believe in democratic ideals, but fail to acknowledge democratically elected governments. This political sewage often transforms into academic sewage and has seeped into many academic journals too. Pranjabharathi does not intend to stifle the voices of dissent in its pages, but there would be a judicious mixture of constructive liberal opinion and those serving the cause of unity, integrity and diversity of the country.
Pranjabharathi is a peer-reviewed academic journal that does not limit itself to publishing blind narratives of nationalism or just to wallow in the accomplishments of ancient India, i.e. Bharath. It will certainly be a medium for new research, both theoretical and empirical, but with special emphasis on developing an interdisciplinary body of indigenous knowledge, ancient as well as contemporary. It would serve as an assemblage of scholars from a variety of intellectual backgrounds. It would be an earnest project to bring to the forefront well researched issues in Humanities; path-breaking theories and findings in Social Sciences.
